Elemental: More than just elements

Elemental, Disney’s new film includes LGBTQ characters (Lake). It was released on 7th of July and is on track to being a huge hit making already earning $251.9 million!

Elemental isn’t just like any regular Pixar film; It’s set in a world with anthropomorphic elements (treating objects as if they are humans) of nature. There are four elements: Fire, water, earth and air. The plot is that two characters meet each other and fall in love (Wade Ripple a calm social element and Ember Lumen a fiery hot head) in Element City, where elements aren’t allowed to mix. The only thing separating them from each other is that they are both different elements Ember is fire and Wade is water. Will they find a way to be together?

The actors voicing ember and wade is Leah Lewis and Mamoudou Athie. Leah Lewis was adopted from a Chinese orphanage as an infant. She possesses more talents that aren’t acting like dancing and singing. She is well known for her Netflix feature film called ‘The Half of it ‘. In addition to her acting, she is professionally trained as a singer since a child and has been writing music since 15.

Mamoudou is an actor and producer. He is well known for many films like ‘The Circle and The Front Runner’. He was nominated for a primetime Emmy award for outstanding in a short form comedy or drama series for his performance in ‘Oh Jerome No’.

The moral of this movie is to follow your dreams but also accepting people for who they are because we are all different in our own ways. It doesn’t matter if you’re an immigrant or opposites to society, you are who you are meant to be.
